Business Person

Along with his law practice, Walter has been a business executive for many years. He has also served as a board member for various businesses. The entities for whom Walter has served are often the economic anchors of the communities in which they are located. This non-legal service has helped Walter develop a keen awareness of the fact that every business has its own unique legal issues and limited resources with which to address them.

Business Law Practice

Walter is a business law attorney. He has served as in-house and outside counsel for companies of various sizes and fields. Walter has regularly assisted business owners in all aspects of business start-up including choosing appropriate business entities. He also provides legal services to businesses on such matters as taxes, contract drafting, stock transfers, and employment law matters. He has in-depth experience in the buying and selling of businesses, and regularly assists with business succession planning. Walter also litigates issues for his business clients.

Estate Planning & Probate Practice

Walter’s estate planning background includes over three decades of planning and drafting of wills and trusts for clients. He has helped hundreds of clients and families address life issues, deal with death, resolve conflict, and leave a legacy. Walter teaches seminars to planning professionals, employers and the general public on various estate planning and probate topics. Walter works closely with clients and their families to create solutions. He also works regularly with clients needing to address guardianship issues as they arise.

Real Estate Practice

Walter’s real estate expertise focuses on such areas as: commercial, residential and farm purchase and sales, leasing, zoning approvals, construction liens, and site condominium documentation. Walter has assisted many local business owners, farmers, and residents with real estate sales or purchases. Walter also assists sellers and buyers that may wish to use land contracts and leases with the option to buy as a means to sell or buy homes.

Committed to Home and History

Walter grew up in Milton, Wisconsin. He practiced law in Michigan before returning to his home area. He enjoys old cars, fishing, reading about history, traveling and especially spending time with his children.

Walter also owns and houses his law firm in the John M. Evans Hall. The John M. Evans Hall, a historic landmark was brought back from the brink of being demolished and now this building houses the law office, Emma’s table and the local Evansville theater guild.
